I finally finished the DVD, A Positive Life: Portraits of Women Living With HIV. It premiered at The XVIII International Conference on AIDS this past July to rave reviews.

It is 20 minutes long. All the women from the book are represented and it gives updates on some of the women who survived including recent photos and interviews.

 

A Positive Life: Portraits of Women Living With HIV

I wrote this book to give women with HIV a place to tell their stories. It does that and it also transcends HIV and tells stories of courage, grace and dignity. Since so many of the women have passed it is now a memorial to the lives they lived. Their stories gives us insight into how far we have come with treatment when it comes to HIV/AIDS and how far we still need to go when it comes to stigma and education about HIV/AIDS.

The Goddess Within

This is a wonderful gift to give to anyone you think of as a goddess. It is collection of quotes from women of substance through the ages till today. It originally came in a kit with cards of ancient Goddesses who gave their insight to modern life (via me)! If you ever see the whole thing I would highly recommend picking it up. This is my first collection of poetry. It is more of a chapbook and there are very few left. This book contains all my poetry slam winning work and reminisces of living on the Lower East Side of Manhattan before it was all prettied up.

In Which I Lost a Thousand Pounds 

This is the third collection and it is a memoir/ memorial of sorts. It includes all the poems from my one women show, Sex, Cellulite and Large Farm Equipment: One Girls Guide to Living and Dying as well as a section about the people I have lost over the years, my battle with AIDS and a terminal bone marrow disease.
